Chemistry lab calculators

Make solutions with confidence: calculate the mass you need for a given molarity, convert between grams and moles, solve C₁V₁ = C₂V₂ dilutions and switch between ppm, percent and mg/L.

Molarity: mass to weigh out

Example: 58.44 g/mol is sodium chloride (NaCl).

Whether you're doubling a recipe, reading a lab report, prepping a solution at the bench or budgeting a trip abroad, you shouldn't need ten browser tabs to get it done. The Ultimate Converter brings the conversions people search for most into one fast, free page that works on any phone, tablet or computer.

Start with the search box at the top. Type a conversion just like you would in a search engine, like "2 cups to ml" or "30 psi to bar," and get an instant answer with the formula behind it. For anything more specialized, jump to a category and use the dedicated tools.

How to get the most accurate results

  • US and UK units differ. A US gallon is 3.785 L, but a UK (imperial) gallon is 4.546 L. A US cup is 236.6 mL, while a metric cup is 250 mL.
  • Weigh baking ingredients when you can. A cup of flour can weigh anywhere from 120 to 150 grams depending on how it's scooped. Our ingredient converter uses the "spooned and leveled" method.
  • Watch your significant figures. Lab results should be reported to the precision of your least precise measurement. We show extra digits so you can round appropriately.
  • Currency rates move daily. Treat conversions as a close estimate, since your bank's rate and fees will vary.

Frequently asked questions

How many mL are in a cup?

One US cup is about 236.6 mL. A metric cup, used in Australia and some recipes, is exactly 250 mL.

How do I convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?

Subtract 32 from the Fahrenheit temperature, then multiply by 5/9. For example, 350°F is about 177°C.

How is A1C converted to average glucose?

Estimated average glucose (mg/dL) = 28.7 × A1C − 46.7. An A1C of 7% is about 154 mg/dL (8.6 mmol/L).

How do I convert RPM to g-force (RCF)?

RCF = 1.118 × 10⁻⁵ × rotor radius in cm × RPM². You need the rotor radius, which is listed in your centrifuge manual.

How often are the currency rates updated?

Exchange rates are refreshed daily from a reference rate provider. Banks and card companies add their own fees, so the rate you're charged may differ slightly.

Is my information saved?

No. Every calculation runs in your own browser. The only outside request is for currency rates, which doesn't include anything you type.
